POSITION OVERVIEW
The Production Supervisor, Directors Lab is charged with managing the production operations, processes, and crew for 8 film projects attending the Sundance Institute's Director's Lab.
Working closely under the Director, Technical Exhibition and Production and the Deputy Director, Feature Film Program, the Production Supervisor, Directors Lab supports Sundance Institute's commitment to championing the creation of unique work by individual storytellers.
This temporary position works from Monday, March 10, 2025 through Tuesday, June 17, 2025. This role will work a remote, variable hour schedule until Monday, April 28, 2025, when hours will increase to a full time schedule through the end of employment. The position will work full time out of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado from Thursday, May 29, 2025 through Sunday, June 15, 2025. Sundance Institute will provide travel, meals, and accommodations in a shared home when the position is based out of the Stanley. Extended hours, including late nights, early mornings, and weekends will be required without any full days off once physically working onsite.
Top priorities include but are not limited to?
• Preparing and conducting a pre-lab orientation with Production Assistants and ensuring relevant information is clearly disseminated.
• Managing production flow, processes, and assigned budgets across processes.
• Codifying and disseminating best practices and policies, enforcing compliance.
• Coordinating volunteer crew and maintaining schedules to ensure flow of services.
• Developing a comprehensive training and facilitating training to ensure crew is properly prepared for roles, expectations, etc.
• Building a comprehensive list of project needs, including equipment, rehearsal/production spaces, cover sets, props, crew needs, etc. to ensure projects have production needs met.
• Continuously collaborating with all crew, advisors, fellows, and operational teams to understand status and meet needs of projects.
• Reviewing previous lab production workflows to refine, streamline, and improve efficiency.
• Ensuring clear information and open communication at all times with various teams.
• Creating and distributing grids for shooting locations and cover sets.
• Inventorying equipment in lab storage and purchasing equipment as necessary.
• Managing volunteers, including selecting and training volunteers, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure volunteers understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles, and delegating appropriate work.
• Supporting attending artists in all their production needs as necessary, ensuring they have proper materials, responding to issues or change requests promptly, etc.
• Managing the planning of and serving as the staffing lead for lab education and tour day.
• Managing equipment, including ensuring Institute owned and loaner equipment is properly inventoried, checked for damages, returned appropriately (includes tracking) or stored properly post lab.
• Representing the organization professionally when interacting and hosting sponsors, donors, vendors, etc.
• Attending and participating in all meetings, daily production, wrap, etc.
• Writing a comprehensive wrap report as directed.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of MVR background check.
• 4 years line producing, as a production supervisor, or related experience in film or tv.
• Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated experience managing employees, freelance contractors, volunteers, etc.
• Ability to design, test, and implement media technology workflow.
• Working knowledge of digital editing equipment.
• Proficient with PC and Mac operation, networking, and hardware.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with all levels of staff and a range of personalities.
• Ability to manage expectations of others with excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving and constantly changing environment.
• Ability to move items up to 50 lbs.

This position will be paid an hourly rate of $26.74 while working part time and will switch to a weekly rate of $1,069.62 once it becomes full time. It also comes with awesome benefits & perks, including:
