Senior Manager Social Media - Careers At Sundance Institute
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Manager, Social Media directs and oversees the Institute's social media channels, expressing the Institute's brand and programs to build engagement, increase impassioned and excited followers, and drive revenue. Our social channels are central to the expression of our work and values.
Working under the direction of the Director, Marketing and in partnership with the Creative Director and Content Producer, the Senior Manager, Social Media integrates and builds social media campaigns and strategies that align with overall marketing and Institute-wide goals.
This temporary position works full time from Monday, June 24, 2024 through Friday, September 13, 2024 and will be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines. This full-time position may work remotely with a preference for candidates based out of the greater Los Angeles, CA area.
Top priorities include but are not limited to?
• Overseeing the development and implementation of high-level social media strategies to grow the Institute's audience, maintain and deepen engagement, tell our brand story and drive revenue across all of our social channels.
• Developing social media standards and strategies for work with our corporate partners.
• Collaborating with the Creative team in the Marketing department to develop compelling ideas and cohesive, integrated campaigns across all marketing channels.
• Partnering with the Creative, Content, Press, and Editorial teams to conceptualize as well as distribute original editorial, photo, graphic, and video content across online channels to drive reach and interaction.
• Creating compelling visual content and caption copy for social media channels to drive increased engagement.
• Managing year-round and seasonal employees, including selecting and training individuals, providing direction, communication, feedback, and support to ensure they understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles, while delegating appropriate and meaningful work
• Ensuring that all content utilized adheres to brand and editorial guidelines.
• Utilizing a data-driven approach to consistently track social metrics and optimize strategies, evolving plans as necessary.
• Reporting analytics and metrics regularly to provide insight on channel performance and social sentiment, developing strategies in response.
• Building relationships and looking for partnership opportunities with social media platforms to ensure the Institute's social media strategies maximize industry developments as well as audience development.
• Identifying opportunities for artists, key partners, and members of the Sundance Leadership team, to leverage their own social channels and amplify Institute efforts.
• Collaborating closely with the Communications team to build and execute strategies for both year-round and Festival-specific communications and messaging, including community outreach.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• 5 years experience developing and executing social media strategies across a variety of platforms and tools.
• A strong portfolio of past social work demonstrating its impact and reach.
• Experience covering live events on social media.
• Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated experience managing others.
• Excellent copywriting skills.
• Mobile phone photography and video skills.
• Proficiency in social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Threads.
• Deep knowledge of content creation to produce compelling videos tailored for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
• Ability to post and use Adobe Creative Suite, Frame IO, Canva, and CapCut.
• Ability to be self-directed, multi-task oriented, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Experience with video production, graphic design skills, and art direction experience preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Mentor team members by providing transparency and opportunities for them to grow, experiment, and innovate.
