Senior Director of Marketing
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is seeking an experienced, dynamic Senior Director of Marketing to drive sales in support of the institution's performances, programming and brand and participate as a key member of the marketing management team.
About the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County
Set in the heart of downtown Miami and designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is one of the world's leading performing arts organizations and venues. Spotlighting legends and serving as a launch pad for local artists to make their mark on the international stage, the Center presents nearly 500 events each year across its eight flexible, state-of-the-art performance spaces. The Center programs 12 signature series, including the largest jazz series in South Florida, the biggest flamenco festival on the East Coast, and a robust program of new theatrical works as well as free programming for the community and an arts education program that serves nearly 30,000 children each year. Since opening in 2006, the Arsht Center, a 501C3 non-profit organization, has emerged as a leader in presenting innovative programming that mirrors South Florida's diversity as well as a catalyst for billions of dollars in new development in the downtown area. The Center includes the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall, the 2,400-seat Ziff Ballet Opera House, a 200-seat flexible space Carnival Studio Theater, and the 57,000-square- foot central Thomson Plaza for the Arts outdoor performance space.
The Adrienne Arsht Center is proud to be home to three artistic resident partners:
• Florida Grand Opera: formed in 1994 by the merger of Greater Miami Opera and The Opera Guild Inc. of Fort Lauderdale FGO stands as one of the oldest performing arts organizations in Florida. It combines a rich history of presenting internationally-acclaimed artists, lesser known operas by great composers as well as commissions of works of living composers.
• Miami City Ballet: is among the largest ballet companies in the country. Since 1986, MCB has toured more than 100 U.S. cities, Europe, Great Britain, South America, Central America, and Israel. MCB currently performs in four counties in Florida with an active repertoire of 98 ballets.
• New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy: prepares graduates for leadership position in orchestras and ensembles around the world. Since its inaugural concert in 1988 NWS has performed around the globe.
The Adrienne Arsht Center's annual operating budget is about $35 million; approximately $22 million is generated by ticket sales, other earned income, and the reimbursement of facility related occupancy costs by Miami-Dade County. The immediate objective of the Senior Director of Marketing is to acheive the Adrienne Arsht Center annual ticket sales revenue budget through a combination of ticket sales, promotions, and events. Longer term, the objective is build a broad, vibrant and enthusiastic loyal customer base in a diverse and international community to support existing and new programs and operations of the Center.
Basic Function
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Senior Director of Marketing will lead the efforts to meet the goals and objectives of the Adrienne Arsht Center. The Senior Director of Marketing will view all the organization's performances, programs, events, activities, facilities, contacts and relationships as opportunities to market the organization, achieve sales goals, and gain public brand loyalty.
The Senior Director of Marketing in partnership with 2 Directors of Marketing, will be responsible for directing the marketing efforts of more than 90 productions resulting in more than 400 performances of multiple signature series, additional performances and events through:
• Creation and execution of marketing plans;
• Revenue and attendance goal setting and achievement of those goals;
• Institutional initiatives and programs;
• Education outreach marketing support;
• Maintenance and growth of intern program;
• Oversight of Marketing Coordinator, Group Sales team, Promotions Manager, E-commerce team;
• Main liaison with Media Buying Agency
The Senior Director will set goals with the Vice President of Marketing, and implement the numerous marketing campaigns. The Senior Director is expected to create a collaborative environment that is results driven, with strategic thinking, goal-oriented action, and follow through and open communication.
The Senior Director will collaborate with the Vice President of Marketing, Creative Services, Public and Media Relations, as well as the programming and development departments to raise public awareness of the Adrienne Arsht Center and its programs. The Senior Director will develop effective outreach and campaign strategies that connect with ticket buyers, donors and the general public to produce positive results.
Ideal Experience
The Senior Director of Marketing should have the following type of experience and qualifications:
• Seven or more years of significant marketing or compatible experience with Broadway shows in a sizable theater or performance related institution that includes ticket sales, promotions, advertising, subscription, and event elements; fluent with strategic and operational planning, implementation of marketing initiatives and best industry practices;
• A record of professional success in sales through multiple disciplines of traditional non-profit marketing;
• A successful track record as an exceptional communicator, in writing as well as verbally;
• Demonstrated ability to work with complex budgets, data mining and analysis;
• Demonstrated management skills in motivating, directing and leading staff and consultants, and in coordinating and supporting the effective productivity of others;
• Deep understanding of how to function effectively in a multi-ethnic work environment and community;
• Prior success demonstrated working in a fast paced E-Environment with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products;
• A successful track record supervising a group sales team;
• The ability to speak Spanish.
