The Criterion Collection needs an experienced producer to create cinema-related supplementary materials for our streaming service and Blu-Ray editions. If you have three or more years working in documentary, news, or other non-fiction video or film production, as well as a passion for classic and contemporary films from around the world, this may be the perfect job for you.
Our producers work on numerous projects simultaneously, with overlapping deadlines. You should be able to work quickly and independently on tight deadlines while maintaining a commitment to accuracy and detail.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of production for approximately six Blu-ray special editions per year, along with supplementary video pieces for films and series being shown on our streaming service
Research production histories, cast and crew background, film theories and movements as necessary to curate strong editions of classic and contemporary films
Identify appropriate interview subjects and coordinate shoots, including booking travel, hotels, transportation, and submitting expense reports
Collaborate with art and editorial departments in determining the creative direction for each release and liner note assignments
Conduct interviews, direct shoots, and oversee edits, ensuring all materials are delivered on deadline
Manage budgets, production schedules, and resources for multiple shoots and editions simultaneously.
Producers are largely responsible for their own photo, video, and audio research to complement the storyline of each video.
Secure appropriate rights and clearances for video, photo, and music usage.
Requirements
3 years of experience working with camera and sound crews along with similar experience working with editors in a post environment.
Capable of seeing documentary projects from concept to completion
Has command of basic journalistic standards (attention to editorial detail, appropriate use of audio & video edits in interview footage, fair use)
Understands post-production process and workflows
Possesses excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and understands the implications their actions will have on the organization

Experienced with both hosted and non-hosted formats
Able to be flexible in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Able to work independently and remain deadline-oriented
Able to manage competing priorities
Maintains a high level of personal and professional integrity and ethics
Fluency in more than one language a plus
Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro a plus
