BUSINESS AFFAIRS COORDINATOR - Full Time
THE ROLE
The Gotham Group is seeking a junior associate for our Business Affairs department in our West Hollywood office. The position offers an opportunity to learn about and engage in industry deal making for all of Gotham's Departments, including film, television, animation, books, and production. This role will involve assisting the Head of Business Affairs in serving an impressive roster of writers, authors, creators, and producers from around the globe.
Ideal candidates should be excited about collaborating with others in a team environment and eager to learn. Candidates must have exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
DUTIES
1. Coordinate signatures on contracts
2. Save and file contracts and key correspondences
3. Coordinate the calendar for head of the department
4. Review and comment on agreements, including but not limited to NDAs, attachment agreements, development agreements, writing agreements, and option purchase agreements
5. Draft representation agreements and shopping agreements
6. Update and maintain the option expiration database
7. Maintain business and legal affairs status trackers related to various departments
8. Prepare representation and client collaboration agreements
9. Prepare client shopping agreements
10. Finalize and file client signatures and documents in digital files
11. Prepare protection letters
12. Review all freelance writer/director/staff animation deals
13. Prepare option reports
14. Review option, acquisition, and term deals
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and/or paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ year(s) of paralegal and/or professional administrative assistant experience preferred
• Interest/familiarity with entertainment industry preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word/Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
• Computer savvy - able to quickly learn new software and processes
• Strong ability to prioritize and multitask
• Organized and detail-oriented, even in a fast-paced environment
