Intern - A&R

This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship

About the Role:

As an A&R Intern, you will support the A&R team in discovering and nurturing musical talent. You'll play a key role in identifying new artists, helping develop their sound, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the A&R department. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for music, a keen understanding of current trends, and the ability to anticipate where the industry is headed.

Key Responsibilities:

Artist Research & Discovery:
• Assist in scouting new talent through social media, live shows, and digital platforms (Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc.).
• Monitor music trends and keep up with emerging genres and artists.
• Compile and present reports on potential signings or collaboration opportunities.

Talent Development:
• Assist in the development process by providing feedback on demos, sessions, and performances.
• Contribute creative ideas for artist branding, marketing, and rollouts.

Administrative Support:
• Help coordinate meetings, studio sessions, and travel arrangements for A&R team members.
• Help file and track contracts, artist agreements, and A&R-related documents.
• Assist with budget tracking for recording projects, keeping detailed records of expenses.

A&R Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other departments (marketing, digital, legal) to assist with projects from inception through release.
• Help manage and maintain the A&R database, ensuring artist data is up to date.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Passionate about music and knowledgeable about the music industry, especially emerging trends and genres.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of music production and recording processes is a plus.
• Experience with music discovery platforms and social media is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and music industry software (Pro Tools, Logic, etc.) is a bonus.
