The Walt Disney Company's Controllership team is seeking a Financial Accounting Analyst (FAA) who will be an exceptional addition to our Subscription Accounting team. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting with direct exposure to the Director. This position will support the accounting and financial reporting aspects of The Walt Disney Company's subscription offerings. A successful candidate is a self-starter who is willing to embrace a challenge and continually seeks opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Support the accounting function of our subscription business
• Own the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for key balance sheet and expense accounts related to subscription during the quarter-end close process
• Review revenue share and bounty agreements for standalone and bundled subscriptions in domestic and international regions, as well as prepare monthly calculations and payments required under those agreements
• Understand and maintain relationships with device partners
• Perform analytical reviews and variance analyses for key financial and operating metrics
• Collaborate with Finance, Partnerships, and Tech teams to assist in implementing new business initiatives, support project deliverables, and provide financial reporting to support the needs of the business
• Troubleshoot accounting issues in the system and propose solutions to management, utilizing judgment as to when items need to be escalated
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement to obtain efficiencies, including collaborating with the Tech team to create and/or improve internal systems and processes
• Maintain an effective internal controls environment
• Provide support for the annual financial statement audit
• Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and business initiatives
Basic Qualifications
• 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year of public accounting experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
• Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Public accounting/auditing experience
• CPA or CPA candidate
• Industry experience in media and/or entertainment
• Experience with SAP financials
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
The hiring range for this position in California is $77,900.00 to $95,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
