This is a Full Time Job
TMZ is looking for an experienced Broadcast Transmission Supervisor. The Broadcast Transmission Supervisor will manage a 3–4-person team responsible for the quality and accuracy of our on-air signals, as well as ensure that transmissions and operating procedures meet government regulations and the station's high standards. This individual must be able to act independently, make reasonable and cognitive decisions related to system failure, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and direct staff in troubleshooting these issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the broadcast transmission team.
• Provide group and individual training on new and existing equipment to ensure team proficiency on all systems
• Assist in preparing work schedules for Master Control Operators and approve time off.
• Develop and update written Standard Operation Procedures for Master Control, and develop station specific operator manuals for all Master Control equipment.
• Operate, ingest, and playout for daily television shows from TMZ's Technical Operations Center (TOC)
• Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the broadcast control room.
• Monitor multiple applications in real-time to ensure seamless broadcast delivery.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and accurate broadcast transmission.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the broadcast transmission team.
• Collaborate with broadcast operations Director, Engineering, and IT teams to ensure system reliability and performance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Radio/TV, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in television or OTT operations.
• 5+ years of experience working in a broadcast control room environment.
• Proficient knowledge of industry-standard production and post-production workflows.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Intermediate MS Office skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
• Ability to monitor multiple applications in real time.
• Strong leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively
Preferred Skills
• Experience with advanced broadcast software and systems.
• Familiarity with linear signal flow, including satellite, fiber, and IP-based broadcasting technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Relevant certification(s) such as:
• Certified Television Operator (CTO)
• Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist (CBNT)
• Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBT)
• Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer (CPBE)
• Certified Broadcast Radio Engineer (CBRE)
• Certified Broadcast Television Engineer (CBTE)

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $85,000.00-100,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
