Festival Publicist (Three Positions)

We are currently hiring for the position of:
FESTIVAL PUBLICIST x 3
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, the Festival Publicist(s) will develop and execute tactical publicity plans for the Toronto International Film Festival (including but not limited to Festival programmes and programmers, Festival juries, awards ceremony and press conferences), collaborate with international publicity teams, as well as maintain and enhance the Festival's reputation with the media through proactive outreach.
Responsibilities
• Proactively generate press coverage for the Toronto International Film Festival programming and programmers, as assigned
• Develop and maintain relationships with members of the local, national and international media
• Write, edit, and circulate press releases, media information packages and other communications materials
• Liaise with Festival programmers and various internal / external stakeholders including film publicists and talent
• Oversee Press Office during Festival
• Develop and execute tactical communication plans for TIFF that reflects the organization's vision and mission
• Provide support for corporate communications
• Prepare accurate, thorough, and timely publicity report for internal and external audiences
Minimum Requirements
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, journalism or related field and a minimum of 3-4 years media relations/publicity experience
• Publicity experience within the film / entertainment / visual arts a strong asset
• Strong knowledge of film is necessary
• Exemplary organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Superior analytical thinking and reasoning skills
• Superior communications skills, tact and diplomacy
• Established relationships with local, national and international entertainment media outlets and journalists
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
• Additional language(s) an asset
