We are currently hiring for the position of:
SENIOR COORDINATOR, PUBLICITY
Reporting into the Sr Manager, Communications the Senior Coordinator, Publicity will play a key role in the promotion and public relations efforts of TIFF, working to increase visibility and audience engagement through earned media coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Senior Coordinator, Publicity will play a key role in the promotion and public relations efforts of TIFF, working to increase visibility and audience engagement through earned media coverage.
• A key member of TIFF’s communications team providing support across all areas including media monitoring and reports, supporting media inquiries, drafting of programming alerts and announcements, pre-and-post Festival support, and providing publicity assistance to year-round programming and TIFF Lightbox events.
• This role acts as a bridge between TIFF and its various audiences / stakeholders, both internally and externally
Media Relations:
• Monitoring the PR inbox and be the first point of response and escalation as needed
• Build strong relationships with local, national, and international media outlets by often being the first point of contact for incoming media requests
• Support the writing of press releases, programming alerts, and pitches for film programming, events, and organizational announcements.
• Coordinate press coverage for events, interviews with filmmakers and key stakeholders, and manage media attendance at film festivals and other events.
• Support media events with local and international talent in attendance (some evenings and weekends required)
Media Monitoring, Reporting & Analytics:
• Monitor media coverage, track communication metrics (e.g., earned media coverage across domestic, US and Int’l outlets; engagement, SOV, reputational, etc.)
• Be the team point-person for media monitoring platform
• Analyzing the tone (positive, negative, neutral) of media coverage to gauge public opinion and brand perception.
• Keeping a close watch for any negative press or media crises that may require immediate attention or response.
• Provide quarterly media highlights and reports to various internal departments and stakeholders
PR Strategy:
• Assist in creating and implementing comprehensive publicity strategies for local and international talent, official TIFF spokespeople, filmmakers and programmers, etc.
• Prepare programming alerts updating media of upcoming activities coming to Lightbox / Festival
• Collaborate with internal teams to align on promotional efforts and ensure key messaging is reflected across all channels and touchpoints.
• Help coordinate with filmmakers, distributors, and talent representatives to promote films and guests participating in events.
• Support the team on internal communications needs, deliverables, etc.
Internal Communications :
• Support the wider communications team and act as a liaison between departments, ensuring employees are informed of company updates and initiatives as needed
• Work with other departments to align on communications roll-out and messaging alignment
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
• Job Grade 2
• Annual Salary Range: $50 000.00 - $68 000.00
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• Monday, March 3, 2025
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
• Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Post-secondary degree/certificate in communications, public/media relations, film or journalism, preferred but not required
• 5 years of experience in communications and/or public/media relations, either in an agency setting with entertainment or arts clients or working in the entertainment or arts sectors
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
• This position requires being in office on a regular basis.
