White Turtle Studios, A Trailer Park Group Company, is looking for an experienced and skilled Payroll Specialist to join us as we build our team in Mumbai.
Position Summary
Payroll Specialist is responsible for a wide range operations to deliver employees’ pay on time and accurately, for India & UK. You will own the performance and the operational excellence of the countries you look after, but also the quality of the entire Payroll Employee Experience.
Essential Job Functions
• Processing payroll
• Maintain payroll information by designing systems, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
• Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.
• Pay employees by directing the production and issuance via electronic transfers to bank accounts.
• Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.
• Implement all other operations related to Payroll: pre-payroll operations (collection of data, import...), post-payroll transactions (tax & benefits payments, social security fillings, PF contributions etc.) - in line with local requirements,
• Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee income and taxes, and workers compensation payments.
• Be accountable for the efficiency and quality of the designated countries, and taking proactive measures to correct/improve (if necessary), ensure that all issues are addressed and resolutions put in place in a timely manner,
• Propose changes to current practises to improve efficiency, employee experience and compliance.
• Balances payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Comply with central, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Other HR activities
• HR Audits & Employee Surveys: To assist in HR audits and Employee surveys and work on the corrective measures.
• Employee Life cycle management, HRMS and data management, Monthly reporting, Payroll and statutory compliance management.
• Contributing and coordinating in Employee Engagement activities or various other projects as and when required.
• Prepare various MIS reports – Headcount, Budgeting etc.
• Vendor Coordination
• Background verification
• Onboarding and offboarding
• Maintaining Employee Personal Records.
• Managing Time Attendance & HRIS Software, for EC, Payroll and C&B Module
• Conduct periodic audits, prepare and present reports.
Job Related Qualification Standards
• Proven track record in processing payroll, ideally acquired in multinational and multi- sites companies, including exposure to India (required) and UK payroll (good to have)
• Total 8-10 years of HR experience end to end payroll management.
• 3-5 years of HR experience including managing processes, people management, data entry management.
• 3-5 years of experience managing and processing payroll for India and UK (good to have)
• Experience with Compensation and Wage Structure, Benefits Administration, Worker Compensation, Employment Law, and Developing Standards.
• Good knowledge of Labour Laws and country practises
• Bachelor’s Degree Required (HR Certification a plus)
• Must be detailed oriented and accurate with data.
• Ability to manage HR data and generate reports from various data systems.
• High level of computer expertise including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
• Must have the ability to respond and interact with all levels of organizational staff.
Knowledge/Skills
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. - Excellent command of English (ability to make presentations in front of international partners).
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and reporting skills.
• Works collaboratively and proactively on multi-functional teams. Open to feedback.
• Consistently communicates using appropriate methods for the situation and audience in a clear, concise and professional manner.
