UTA seeks a Business Affairs Associate in our Business Affairs News and Broadcast department to be based in our New York office. The ideal candidate has experience in entertainment business/legal affairs and has a strong understanding of, and an enthusiasm for news, journalism and entertainment.
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $115,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do
• Participate in the deal-making process with News Agents across the department, including reviewing and negotiating agreements, identifying and tracking precedent, strategizing and preparing counters, and researching and implementing best practices for the department
• Provide thoughtful guidance to News Agents on business strategy for transactions of varying complexity
• Mentor News support staff in understanding business terms in News deals
• Foster trusted and positive long-term relationships with colleagues across the agency
• Provide high-quality work product in a fast-paced environment to meet the demands of the organization
• Assist in further implementation of effective contract administration and document management processes
What You Will Need
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College
• JD from an accredited law school with admission to the New York or California Bar
• 2+ years of relevant legal experience working for a network (in either business affairs or legal affairs), law firm or talent agency
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to develop highly effective and productive working relationships externally and internally throughout UTA
• Ability to learn fast and show good judgment
• Impeccable ethics and adherence to confidentiality obligations
• Ability to anticipate needs and execute time-sensitive matters in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently
• Must be detail-oriented
• Must be able to thrive in team-oriented and autonomous working environments
• Proficient in Microsoft office products (Outlook, Work, Excel)
