Description
How you'll LEAD:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated attorney for the business and legal affairs department at our regional office in Miami, Florida. This office oversees all business and legal affairs matters across Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, including recorded music, neighboring rights, digital deals, new business agreements, management agreements, merchandising agreements, roll out of corporate policies, and litigation. The attorney will work with and report directly to the SVP of business and legal affairs. This position involves heavy transaction flow. The attorney will work at a very fast pace and must be able to multi-task and juggle competing priorities, from reviewing and drafting agreements, drafting letters, contract administration, assisting in the administration of corporate matters, and working on day-to-day office tasks. The role will have broad responsibility and unique insight into multiple aspects of our business and the opportunity to work with a wide range of internal and external partners.
How you'll CREATE:
• Provide legal support to SVP.
• Drafting, reviewing, and/or summarizing a variety of legal agreements including digital, brand, endorsement, and sponsorship deals; production, artist, management, profit share, license, distribution, video, independent contractor, merchandising and other entertainment related agreements for Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula.
• Responsible for reviewing and monitoring critical dates, and other ongoing rights and obligations of company.
• Monitoring and reviewing litigation reports for the Latin America and Iberian Peninsula regions.
• Assist with corporate governance issues and related documentation for company's Latin American and Iberian affiliates and corporate policy rollout and implementation.
Bring your VIBE:
• 3 – 5 years' experience of Law firm experience or in-house experience in transactional matters preferred
• Music industry experience preferred
• BA/BS degree, JD, and passage of state bar exam required.
• Bilingual-English/Spanish (both written and spoken) required
• Knowledge of agreements relating to the production, distribution, sales, marketing, financing of recorded music and video product preferred
• Must be adept at drafting and negotiating recorded content acquisition and exploitation agreements
• Knowledge of record label issues preferred
• Knowledge of copyright law encouraged
• Must be able to work under time constraints
• Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities
• Computer experience: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required; Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred
• Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Highly motivated and with a desire to work in a team environment
• Strong analytical capabilities
• Resourceful and able to pivot quickly, think practically and be solution-oriented
• Ability to keep information confidential
• Must be willing to work extended hours
• Must be self-directed and well organized
