Universal Music Group is seeking a Vice President, Compensation, Benefits, and HRIS for the Santa Monica, CA office.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, North America, ensures strategic alignment of compensation and benefits philosophy with UMG objectives. Oversees the administration, planning, design and implementation of new and revised compensation, benefit, contract administration and HR systems initiatives. Directs the management of bonus, merit and performance management processes and the development and implementation of benefits initiatives.
Job Functions:
1. Coordinates the setting of strategic direction for UMG Benefits. Responsible for management and administration of all health, security, and retirement programs. Directs the research, design, and development of UMG’s benefits, including health, security, and retirement plans. Manages vendors and in-house staff dedicated to the delivery of a comprehensive array of benefits to UMG employees.
2. Recommends compensation strategy. Directs the analysis & development of merit increase, bonus, and incentive programs for executive, manager, professional, clerical, and hourly staff. Designs, prepares, and presents merit increase and bonus plan proposals, incentive plans and commission plans. Directs the analysis of salary survey and economic information. Directs the management and tracking of UMG employee contracts and the management of all personnel records.
3. Directs the management of Human Resources information systems supporting Benefits, Payroll, Employment, and Coordinates with UMG Information Systems in HRIS vendor selection and management.
4. Directs the management of UMG’s HR intranet site. Managed web-based contracts tracking, performance appraisal, vacation tracking, and deferred compensation systems. Manages the development of all communications for web-based systems, including presentation materials and user manuals.
5. Directs the management of work/life programs, including Employee Assistance Programs.
6. During consolidations and workforce reductions coordinates discrimination testing analysis with UMG’s Legal department. Management Accountabilities: Supervises UMG Compensation and Benefits Staff, as well as various vendors. Supervises employee and vendor work, manages project timelines, and ensures product quality. Establishes annual performance goals, allocates resources, assesses annual performance and may determine individual merit and incentive pay for UMG Compensation and Benefits Staff. Provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training, and career counseling to UMG Compensation and Benefits Staff.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
A complete working knowledge of all aspects of Health, Security, and Retirement Benefits. In addition, must posses a general knowledge of Compensation practices and principals. Strong understanding of California labor laws.
Experience:
10 or more years of comprehensive and varied professional experience in the field of Compensation and Benefits. Experience must include the management of a Benefits Department (or a vendor directly responsible for Benefits Administration) with qualified and non-qualified pension programs for a large company. Experience with preparing annual EEO and AAP reports a plus.
Education:
A degree in a related discipline from a four-year college, or equivalent related seminars, classroom training, and experience
