This is a Full Time Job
The Utah Jazz are looking for a rock star Digital Content Writer to join our amazing Content Team. This position will be responsible for creating engaging content about the Utah Jazz organization for the team's digital platforms. The perfect candidate would be a self-starter who can deliver amazing features with interviews or just and interesting story surrounding the team. The individual will also be tasked with seeking out interesting, unique, and original topics and will focus on (but not be limited to) features, interviews, game previews/recaps, and long-form writing that can be repackaged for a variety of platforms. Please provide previous work links or writing samples.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proactively pitch and write feature stories on the Jazz, arena and other Smith Entertainment properties
• Work with other team members to ''repackage'' this content for a various digital channels and platforms
• Manage content publishing strategy for UtahJazz.com
• Make recommendations around accompanying multi-media content for feature stories
• Work closely with Jazz public relations team to bring the best stories to light
• Maintain relationships with players, coaches and front office members by attending practices and games.
• Create entertaining content while actively working on long-form pieces
• Keep fans--and potential fans--interested and entertained through a unique point of view
• Cover the team on the road as required
• Stay current on press coverage of the Utah Jazz and incorporate that coverage into our content as appropriate
• Stay up to date on the latest sports, pop culture and technology trends
• Curate user-generated content and incorporate that content into articles as appropriate
• Work with the entire content team to maintain a content team publishing calendar
• Work with department leadership to evaluate and update brand publishing guidelines for all digital channels
• Assist in management of Jazz digital/social channels at games and throughout the season as needed.
• Maintain the integrity of the Utah Jazz and the Smith Entertainment organization

• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, English or similar program (or demonstrated similar experience)
• 3-5 years of sports writing experience required (please include a link to your portfolio)
• Experience interviewing public figures required
• Experience working in sports - preferably NBA-related
• Expert in social media acumen
• Demonstrated experience with online publishing tools (drupal, wordpress, etc)
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in both business and basketball operations matters
• Must have vast Utah Jazz and NBA knowledge
• Basic understanding of SEO best practices and tools
• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess
• The person must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
