Summary:
The Art & Design Department at Utah Valley University invites applications for a one-year lecturer position in 3D Arts to begin August 2021. We seek a compelling artist and a collaborative educator who will teach undergraduate 3D courses in modeling, texturing, rendering, and basic animation. The successful candidate will motivate students to create compelling work and contribute to the Entertainment Design field through professional work. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, as well as to teaching diverse learners and modeling inclusive practices.
UVU, located in Orem, Utah, is a comprehensive state institution of higher education with over 37,000 students. Required Qualifications:
BFA, BA or equivalent in 3D Art, Modeling, Motion Graphics, or Animation or related field of study required. Professional 3D Art workflow experience preferred. College level 3D Art workflow teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of the 3D Arts workflow, practice, and theory
• Knowledge of student management, motivation and evaluation techniques
• Knowledge of Apple and PC computer hardware
• Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives
• Skills and experience with Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop
• Skills in Modeling, Texturing, and Rendering
• Skills in Animation and/or ZBrush and/or Substance Painter are a plus
• Skills in interpersonal relationships, problem-solving and decision-making
• Excellent communication skills
• Practice and teach the 3D workflow. Must have experience with one or more of the following: 3D Modeling, Motion Graphics, or Animation.
• Ability to mentor and motivate students
• Ability to relate well with students and colleagues
• Ability to evaluate student work effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to apply appropriate technology in classroom teaching
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.
Physical Requirements:
Only those related to teaching in the studio: standing, sitting, speaking, hearing, seeing.

Pay Range: $47,000 - $55,000
