Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
A little bit about our team: Warner Chappell Music Publishing Canada is looking for a publishing assistant to join our team and help work our growing roster. This individual will assist with various duties, mainly in admin, but also across A&R and sync.
Your role:
We are currently looking for an organized, detail oriented, diligent, and results-driven individual for a temp Publishing Assistant role based in Toronto. This is a 12-month assignment, reporting directly to the Manager of Sync & Admin. This position will provide clerical support to the WCM Canada team and is responsible for the administration of the music catalogue, royalty processing support, maintaining song files, researching counterclaim requests, liaising with PROs for proper writer/affiliate registrations and song verifications for SOCAN and CMRRA.
Here you'll get to:
• Register works in our internal administration system
• Monitor and resolve disputes and work rejections
• Answer copyright queries from SOCAN, CMRRA and WCM teams
• Submit setlists to SOCAN
• Assist with royalty processing duties
• Upload audio files to our internal database
• Assist with sync licensing duties
• Compile and supervise weekly charts
• Monitor our general inbox and respond to various inquiries
• Perform general clerical duties such as expense reporting, filing, and shipping items
• Handle other administrative, sync, and A&R related tasks as needed by the business
About you:
• Ability to efficiently and accurately communicate with multiple clients and stakeholders to resolve claims
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and execute tasks on-time
• Self-starter, self-motivated and takes responsibility/ownership of responsibilities
• Strong organization skills and high attention to detail
• A thorough understanding of Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly grasp new systems.
• Great interpersonal skills. Must be willing to collaborate and work as a team.
• Great verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
We'd love it if you also had:
• Minimum One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably within a music publishing or music-related company; licensing experience a plus.
• Comprehensive understanding of Copyright and the Canadian Publishing Industry is preferred
