INTERNSHIP (Summer 2022): Youth Hockey Development

Position Overview: The Youth Hockey Development Intern will be responsible for assisting in all day-to-day operations of the department focusing on community outreach and growing the game of hockey. This is a paid internship.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and participate in various street hockey events throughout the summer.
• Assist in running Street Caps hockey clinics in the community and instruct the game to local youth.
• Develop new and enhance current community hockey programs to be implemented throughout the season.
• Represent the Washington Capitals at local community fairs, festivals, and grassroots events.
• Support the planning of the 2022-23 Future Caps Learn to Play program.
• Plan female-specific hockey growth initiatives.
• Plan and implement numerous on-ice clinics and youth hockey events through the summer.
• Maintain the Youth Hockey Database with participant data from all summer events.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.
• Previous ice hockey playing experience and skating proficiency required.
• Ability to learn quickly and motivation to self-teach.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Organized, detailed, and results driven.
• Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Positive mentality and strong team spirit.
• Reliable transportation and housing.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
