Position Overview: The Senior Director, Digital Marketing is responsible for leading the digital marketing strategies of the WNBA Washington Mystics and the NBA G League Capital City Go-Go. This role will develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing plans, oversee digital marketing campaigns, and drive online brand presence and engagement across web, mobile apps, social media, email marketing, and paid digital advertising.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that aligns with the Team's business objectives.
• Identify and prioritize digital marketing opportunities & initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team to achieve high performance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to team members.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of campaigns across various channels including social media, web destinations, email, SEO, SEM, and display advertising. Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance targets.
• Develop and implement content marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
• Supervise the creation and distribution of high-quality, relevant, engaging content across all digital platforms.
• Develop and oversee a robust content marketing calendar.
• Oversee social media marketing efforts that enhance Team brand presence, player brand presence, and engages with the online community.
• Develop and drive key social media campaigns and monitor their performance.
• Drive creativity, freshness, and on-trend campaigns and executions that keep Teams current.
• Develop and implement SEO and SEM strategies to improve search engine rankings, for both the Team and for specific products, driving organic and paid traffic to the website as well as lead generation and conversions. Monitor and analyze the performance of these efforts and make data-driven adjustments.
• Track and analyze digital marketing performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.
• Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on digital marketing performance and return on investment.
• Leverage insights to make data-driven adjustments and improvements.
• Collaborate closely with cross functional teams including (but not limited to) Public Relations, Business Intelligence, Basketball Operations, Player Relations, Marketing, and Sales.
• Ensure effective communication and alignment across all relevant departments.
• Develop and manage the digital budget.
• Ensure cost-effective delivery of initiatives.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends, technologies, and standard processes.
• Provide trend updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance digital marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification or Google Analytics Certification are highly desirable.
• 10-15 years of dynamic experience in digital marketing, with a track record of success in senior marketing roles.
• Experience in sports is preferred.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays; maintain a flexible work schedule and work extended hours. Willingness to travel is required.
• Deep understanding of digital marketing principles, practices, and methodologies.
• Keen understanding of the sports landscape, particularly women's basketball and the WNBA.
• Knowledge of various digital marketing channels, including website, social media, SEO, SEM, email marketing, mobile apps, and content marketing.
• Proficiency in digital marketing software and tools, specifically image editing and design applications, social media management software, website CMS systems and microsite design tools, analytics applications, etc.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high performing digital marketing teams.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex digital marketing information clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Pay Range: $125-140k USD.
